I love pronouncing, or trying to say “Hyehwa” (“혜화”) and maybe that’s because it’s one of my favourite areas in Seoul.
Not only does the area have the city’s oldest university, Sungkyunkwan University but it’s also home to the famous theatres – small or big – in Seoul.
Personally, I like the vibe and as an added bonus you can walk up to Naksan and part of Seoul’s fortress wall.
I’ve always found that Exit 4 of the Hyehwa metro / subway station is a popular meeting place.
Film Fact: The famous “Parasite” by director Bong Joon-ho includes at least one line in it which refers to the area of Hyehwa. Listen carefully and you’ll hear it!
